Coach Vandygriff started this coaching journey at his Alma Mater, Union College, Kentucky, where he received his B.S. and M.A. While playing football at Union College, he was an All-Mid South Conference Defensive Lineman and Honorable Mention All-American. Coach Vandygriff had the opportunity to learn from multiple coaches along the way, with the likes of Roy Kidd (E.K.U.), Mike Springston (WVU TECH), Tony Gibson (N.C. STATE), Roger Holmes (DUBLIN), and Leroy Ryals (CEDAR SHOALS). Through those experiences Coach Vandygriff's philosophy has been to, “mentor, develop, foster, produce, and value every player’s athletic ability, academic ability, character, and work ethic.” Why Football? Football is an example of a journey in life. In life, you have to plan, practice (making good decisions/getting better daily), and execute. It’s essential that student-athletes learn to connect life lessons to their football journey and look beyond where they are.
