Head Varsity Softball Coach: Columbus North High School
Ron McDonald has served as Head Varsity Softball Coach for the past six years at Columbus North High School in Columbus, Indiana. He spent the previous three seasons at Brown County High School in Nashville, Indiana. Ron has been awarded (Conference Coach of the year) two times out of three years at Brown County and two of the last three seasons at Columbus North. At Brown County, he guided them to their highest single season wins (20) in school history. Moving to a much larger school, Ron improved their team from a 1-25 record his first year, to a school record single season, 25 wins and 20 wins, in the last 2 years. They have won two Conference Indiana Championships and one runner-up, as well as two Sectional and one Regional Championships, in the past three seasons. His team has consistently been ranked in the Top #5 in the state, and as high as #3, in the previous two years. They have been 25-5 and 20-4 the last two seasons. He has established Columbus North Softball to be one of the elite programs in the state of Indiana and looks to continue their success in the upcoming years. Ron has been equally as successful at Coaching Baseball and Basketball preceding High School Softball. He feels honored to be able to share the difference on how he built both programs.
