
General Manager for the Cal Basketball Program
Meghin Williams is a rising leader in collegiate athletics and currently serves as the General Manager for the Cal basketball program. Appointed in April 2025, she became the first person to hold the general manager role for the program, signaling a forward-thinking approach to navigating the evolving landscape of college athletics, including NIL (Name, Image and Likeness), revenue sharing, and roster management. In her role at California, Williams oversees a wide-ranging portfolio that blends business strategy with student-athlete development. Her responsibilities include managing NIL partnerships, driving revenue growth, leading roster-building strategy, and supporting overall program operations. She works closely with head coach Charmin Smith and the coaching staff to ensure the program remains competitive both on and off the court. Known for her ability to connect donor engagement with athlete experience, Williams plays a critical role in aligning financial innovation with the holistic development of student-athletes. Prior to joining California, Williams served as Assistant Athletics Director and Chief of Staff for women’s basketball at Virginia Tech women's basketball, where she was instrumental in overseeing donor relations, NIL initiatives, budgeting, and student-athlete engagement. During her tenure, she implemented strategic fundraising plans and managed key operational projects, including facility enhancements that elevated the program’s infrastructure and recruiting appeal. Williams brings more than a decade of experience across multiple high-level Division I programs. She previously held leadership roles at University of North Carolina women's basketball, where she served as Director of Operations and Assistant to the Athletic Director, managing daily business operations, budget strategy, and revenue-generating initiatives. Earlier in her career, she contributed to program growth at Princeton University women's basketball, consistently demonstrating a strong track record in donor engagement, marketing strategy, and operational efficiency. A former student-athlete, Williams played collegiate basketball at the University of Nebraska women's basketball from 2009 to 2013, where she was part of two NCAA Sweet 16 teams. Her experience as a player informs her leadership philosophy, emphasizing resilience, team culture, and the importance of supporting student-athletes beyond the game. Widely regarded as an innovative and relationship-driven collegiate sports executive, Williams represents the next generation of leadership in college sports. Her expertise in blending competitive strategy with revenue development positions her as a key figure in shaping the future of women’s basketball at California and beyond.
