Lesley Irvine

Vice President and Director of Athletics, Colorado College

Lesley Irvine has served as Vice President and Director of Athletics at Colorado College since June 1, 2019, where she is a member of the President’s Cabinet and provides strategic oversight for the institution’s multi division athletic program (Division I and III). A visionary leader with a proven track record of success, Irvine has guided the department through a transformative period marked by competitive excellence, facility innovation, and record-setting fundraising.

Central to Irvine’s leadership is the implementation of a “Championship Culture,” exemplified by the launch of the Tiger ExCCellence campaign. This comprehensive fundraising initiative honors the college’s athletic legacy while positioning its programs for sustained future success. Under her direction, the campaign has achieved unprecedented growth, surpassing $1 million in annual fundraising and reaching historic participation levels by the close of the 2025 fiscal year.

Irvine also played a pivotal role in the development and opening of the state-of-the-art Ed Robson Arena in 2021. The 3,400-seat multi-purpose facility established an on-campus home for the college’s hockey program for the first time in its history and has sold out every game since opening. Her leadership further extended to a comprehensive athletics logo refresh unveiled in 2020, reinforcing the institution’s brand identity.

During Irvine’s tenure, Colorado College Athletics has achieved remarkable competitive success, including 32 All-Americans, 16 NCAA team tournament appearances, 14 individual NCAA qualifiers, 25 team conference championships, and 76 individual conference titles. The 2024–25 academic year stands among the most successful in school history, with 10 of 17 teams earning national rankings. Highlights included conference titles for both men’s and women’s cross country, NCAA tournament appearances across multiple programs, and a historic first conference championship for men’s swimming and diving. The department also recorded its highest finish since 2005 in the Learfield Directors’ Cup standings. This past fall every Division III Fall program won a conference championship.

Beyond competition, Irvine has prioritized academic excellence, with nearly 90 percent of student-athletes earning conference academic honors in 2024–25. Notably, the men’s swimming and diving team achieved a nation-leading 3.90 GPA for the spring 2025 semester across all divisions.

A respected voice in collegiate athletics, Irvine has served on the Board of Directors for Women Leaders in College Sports and contributes to numerous national and local organizations, including leadership roles within conference governance and Olympic City USA initiatives. She is also a founding board member of WeCoach and a faculty member for the NCAA Women Coaches Academy.

Prior to Colorado College, Irvine held leadership roles at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and Bowling Green State University, and served as head field hockey coach at Stanford University. A former standout student-athlete at the University of Iowa and Loughborough University, Irvine brings a global perspective and lifelong commitment to excellence in sport and leadership.
