Justin Carrigan

Director of Athletics, Liberty Hill ISD

After seven seasons as the first head coach in UT Permian Basin Football history, Justin Carrigan transitioned into an administrative role as the department’s Deputy Director of Athletics in November of 2022.Carrigan now serves as the Director of Athletics, Liberty Hill ISD. 


As Deputy Director of Athletics, Carrigan helped manage a $7 million budget while leading the successful operation of the business, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning departments as well as overseeing facilities and event operations, with direct oversight over athletic training and strength and conditioning.


Carrigan’s final season in charge of football the team had 10 players honored by the LSC after the season, the most in program history. Wide receiver, MJ Link had a sensational season and was named the LSC Offensive Player of the Year, the first player in program history to do so, All-Super Region Four Second Team, and Don Hansen All-American Honorable Mention. Defensive tackle, Victor Idusuyi earned LSC Defensive Freshman of the Year honors, and Second Team All-Conference, after finishing with a team-high 12 tackles-for-loss along with three sacks. He made 29 tackles and recovered a pair of fumbles. Eight others earned recognition by the league after the season.


In 2016, the program's first year of competition, the Falcons kicked off its season with a 27-6 win against Sul Ross at Ratliff Stadium in front of a record 13,856 fans. UTPB scored the first 20 points of the game in the 21-point victory over the Lobos.


UTPB scored a season-high 49 points the next week in a 49-34 win at home against Arizona Christian. The Falcon offense broke-out for 495 total yards of offense, including 368 passing yards and three touchdowns by quarterback Kameron Mathis and 87 yards and a touchdown by running back Brandon Infiesto.


At the conclusion of the inaugural season, Offensive lineman Corin Brooks, became the first UTPB football players to transition to the NFL when he signed a free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.


Carrigan came to UTPB having spent five seasons as an assistant at Tarleton, the last three as offensive coordinator where they won a Lone Star Conference Championship in 2013. Prior to his five-year stint at TSU, Carrigan spent a year at the University of Texas-El Paso working with the Miners' passing game. He started his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant in 2005 at Midwestern State as the wide receivers coach. In 2007 he was named the Director of Strength & Conditioning for all eleven NCAA sports at Midwestern State.


Carrigan graduated with a degree in kinesiology in 2003 from Angelo State. A three-year starter for the football team, he was an All-Conference recipient in 2000 and 2001, and was a team captain in 2002. He later earned his master's degree in sports administration from Midwestern State in 2009.


Carrigan is married to his wife Heather and they have two kids together, Madalyn and Gunner.
