Olympic Champion and world record holder
Ryan Murphy has lead the US Team to multiple World Records, Olympic and World Championship Gold Medals, as the reigning backstroke champion. His Olympic debut was back in Rio in 2016, where he swept the 100- and 200-meter backstroke events, as well as locking in Gold for the men’s 4x100 Medley relay. In Tokyo in 2021, he came home with 1 Silver and 1 Bronze for individual events, and once again brought Gold home for the men’s 4x100 Medley relay. In between those Olympic Games, as well as after, Ryan continued to dominate World Championships (both long and short course). This makes him one of the longest and most successful tenured athletes on both the US National Team and Speedo Roster. A former Cal Bear and multi NCAA Champion, Ryan continues to train and live in Northern California under the guidance of Coach Dave Durden
